Anyway to increase the text size when viewing topics? I think I may be on the verge if needing glasses...

You could always zoom... Ctrl + mouse wheel, or check the options button on your browser.

Yeah, I am not aware of any preference based board specific zoom. Your best bet is definitely browser zoom (or try out some of the other themes) like Korbin said. Ctrl + 0 will get you back to default.
