Advice for new people picking names?

A lot of newer people have been coming up to me lately for advice on picking their fighter name, and all I've been able to think of is for them to stop trying to sound so extravagant. I don't want to yell a four syllable name across the field and possibly * it up. Does anyone have some solid advice I can give them? Also, if this is in the wrong place, I apologize, I could not find a better place to ask. Thank you!

KISS applies. Keep It Simple, Stupid. If you have a long name, be ready for people to shorten it. If you don't want people using your name as a joke, make sure that you think about potential ways it could be made fun of. Try to avoid really popular character names from any "mainstream" fantasy/medieval series. stolen names work so long as you make it your own.

Try to keep it two syllables. It's a lot easier to say and to remember.

And remember: If it's not simple, or you're a tool, someone's going to pick a name FOR you.

And sometimes you never even get a chance...

But when you look like a bald, noseless Ralph Fiennes, it's sort of a natural progression, don't you think?

Follow the advice given above, then make them shout it across the field. If it still sounds alright, go for it.
