28" might be too big. I'm a small guy (5'10 and a buck thirty) and a 24" round is more than enough to cover all the sweet spots without getting in the way. I typically fight with a 3 sq ft. teardrop, but my next shield is going to be a 26" round and intended more for line fighting.
